Subject: Help our Danbury High PARTNERS Celebrate Film Award on May 21st - Proceeds Benefit Our School

Dear Cartus Save the Children Committee, School in Sudan Team, and Sponsorship Team Captains, and interested parties,

It is rare for high school students to become activists for a great cause, rarer still that they inspire and motivate hundreds of adults to take action and make great commitments. It is almost beyond belief that that they should do so by traveling around the country at their own expense.

Such is the case with the students of Danbury High School. In the past two years they have produced two award winning videos about Darfur (see www.dhsthepromise.com) and have traveled around the nation at their own expense making about 100 presentations. They have moved many from apathy to empathy, and have moved the Cartus Save the Children Committee from empathy to activism. In May 2007 we made a commitment to within three years raise enough money to build a school in Sudan for the Darfur refugees (www.schoolinsudan.org), a school with eight classrooms, offices for the teachers, three latrines, a well, and funding for five years.

The students’ latest video, "Child of Hope", has just joined their first, “The Promise” in receiving awards from the Connecticut Film Festival. On May 21st their latest film will be screened as part of the Connecticut Film Festival at the All Nations Baptist Church on Main St. in Danbury, CT at 5:30 pm. The screening of this and the other award winning “Shorts” will last approximately 90 minutes. A reception celebrating the award will follow immediately afterward at the Lebanon-American Club on West St. (just off Main St.) in Danbury, from approximately 7-10pm. Tickets can be purchased from the City Center Box office or online at www.ctfilmfest.com (see instructions below) for $25 per person, each ticket includes both the screening and the catered reception, and most of the ticket price amount will be donated to the Cartus Save the Children Committee/DHS School in Sudan Project. The Danbury High School Culinary arts program will be catering the reception.

Instructions for ordering tickets online at www.ctfilmfest.com:
Go to “Get Tickets” in the left hand menu, then “Prices and Packages”. Click the “Click here to purchase tickets now” link under “Online Ticket Sales”, then select 5/21 on the calendar. Find “Shorts – Kids and Money…Wednesday 5/21/2008, 5:30 pm EST…All Nations Baptist Church, Danbury CT” and then click “Buy Tickets”.

I beseech each of you to encourage these students by joining them to celebrate their award. Let’s sell out those tickets! Please spread the word. Thank you.
