Ms. Dragone's eighth grade students at Schaghticoke Middle
School in New Milford, CT, have joined our School in Sudan
effort. They have designed and are selling theT-Shirt
described below and all proceeds from the sales benefit our
School. This page was created by this very special class....
About Darfur – Darfur is a region in Sudan that is about the size of Texas.
It is made up of settled peasants who identify as African and nomadic
herders who identify as Arab. In 2003, ethnic battles erupted between the
groups resulting in over 200,000 dead and over 2.5 million people displaced
by violence. Many people have lost family members, homes, and their
physical and emotional security. Unfortunately, the children of Darfur are
suffering as they face military violence, inadequate/nonexistent healthcare,
and little hope for an education.
